Kaylee A. Mayo, OD, has joined VisionQuest Eyecare. She is accepting new patients at the Greenwood office at 2887 South State Road 135.

Dr. Mayo completed a residency in primary care at the Indiana University School of Optometry, where she gained experience in managing ocular disease and dry eye. During optometry school, she completed externships at the VA Clinic in Brownsburg, Indiana and at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, Florida.

“We are very fortunate to have Dr. Mayo join our practice.  She is coming to us after teaching Optometry students at the IU School of Optometry.  Dr. Mayo distinguished herself as a student at the school, and her fellow faculty highly recommended her,” said Dr. Christopher Browning of VisionQuest Eyecare.

From Bloomington, Indiana, Dr. Mayo earned her Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Indiana University.

“I became interested in eye care after watching my father being treated for a genetic eye condition called retinitis pigmentosa. I grew up going to the optometrist frequently and always looked up to my family’s optometrists,” Dr. Mayo said.

She started working for a local private optometry practice in high school and fell in love with the profession.

From Bloomington, Indiana, Dr. Mayo earned her Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Indiana University in 2021 and then her Doctor of Optometry from the Indiana University School of Optometry. She was a gymnast for 15 years, competing in club gymnastics for 12 years and at Bloomington High School South.

“As we expand our care, Dr. Mayo was the best candidate to join our practice to help specifically with some of the more complicated medical cases that we deal with daily,” said Dr. Browning. ” When we met her, we knew, quickly, that she would be a great fit for our patients, the staff and other doctors in our practice.  I’m very excited to learn from her, as she’s up to date on the latest developments in eye care.”

Dr. Mayo enjoys spending time with her husband, friends and family. She is an avid reader, loves traveling to national parks and snowboarding destinations, and enjoys boating and wakesurfing.
