What to Know

Strabismus

  • Eyes that appear misaligned
  • Double vision
  • Difficulty with depth perception
  • Eye strain or fatigue
  • Head tilting or closing one eye to see better

Strabismus can result from:

  • Imbalance in the eye muscles
  • Problems with the brain’s control of eye movement
  • Genetics or family history
  • Vision issues that affect focusing

It can develop in childhood or appear later in life.

You may be at higher risk if you:

  • Have a family history of strabismus
  • Experienced vision problems early in life
  • Have certain neurological or developmental conditions

Our approach focuses on improving how the eyes work together and restoring proper alignment whenever possible.

Treatment options may include:

  • Vision therapy to improve eye coordination
  • Prescription glasses or prisms
  • Eye muscle training exercises
  • Referral for surgical evaluation if needed

If left untreated, strabismus can lead to reduced vision in one eye (Amblyopia) and long-term visual challenges. Early care helps improve both vision and eye coordination.
